M8 (Lagoon Nebula)100 viewsCaptured during a cloud lull at main objectives n/o 8/11/2006. Shot through narrow slit between house and trees. M8 was at 15 degrees alt over garage and neighborhood houses. I wanted more exposures, but the third in the sequence showed the nebula going behind trees.

Primary: LXD-55 mount, Nikon 200mm f/4 lens, Astronomik Halpha filter, SX MX716 camera, Astroart 3.0.
Guiding: T80, Vesta, GuideDog (ASCOM).

Image Processing: Astroart, Paint.Net:Resize, DDP, bloat reduction, unsharp, curve adjustment, resize.

NGC7000 25x60R 26x60BG.jpg
NGC7000 (North American Nebula)101 viewsThis image combines B and G color data from an image captured with my Canon 300D on August 21, 2005 and Halpha data captured August 1, 2005 with my Starlight Xpress MX716. The images were coregistered and combined in AstroArt 3.0 and final image touch ups were done with Paint.Net.

This is really just an experiment in combining color because I didn't intend to use the monochrome and color photos together. The Canon image shows virtually no hint of the nebula.
