June 24-25, 2003 : Pulled nearly an all-nighter
This is my second night out with my new (to me) MX916. The first night was pretty much an unpleasant experience. However, the addition of MaxIm/DL CCD software made a huge difference in how last night went. I did a good polar alignment and found my GOTOs were spot on. Despite the fact that I couldn't get the camera to come to focus through my flip mirror and had to mount it to the ST80 directly (straight through), I didn't have to remove the camera the entire night because I was hitting my targets on the chip 100%. That's a tad over 1 degree x a tad over 1 degrees. Not bad!
I was incredibly pleased and wanted to try a number of targets. I still have other images yet to be processed in fact. But those require more than I want to put in right now because of gradients. It seems dim objects require a lot more processing.
I can't believe how much can be obtained in such a few seconds using the MX916!
